Director of Loans and Debt Management
Ebrima L.S Darboe is the Director of Loans and Debt Management at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs, The Gambia. In this role, he is mandated with policy, strategy and operational management of The Gambia Public Debt, and works with both national and international institutions as partners, to help the country have a sound policy and legal environment to fund its development programs from domestic and external sources of finance.
While a Director, he has worked with the World Bank in 2015 as a Voice Seconded staff, and during this period, he worked with INT Vice Presidency. In addition, he worked at World Bank Treasury Department where he was able to secure a Technical Assistant support from the Bank to develop a first of its kind Borrowing Plan Tool for The Gambia in collaboration with a consultant.
Mr. Darboe served for three years as Principal Loans Officer at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs. During this period, he was the head of Operations and spearheaded the implementation of debt management best practices aligned with the objective of reducing public debt risks and exposures.
Before joining the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs, Mr. Darboe worked as Head of Credit and Risk Management Department at International Commercial Bank, in 2010. He was responsible to manage and advise on bank portfolio and credit risk exposure from loan applications and big customers.
Mr. Darboe holds a double master’s degree of MSc in Finance and MSc in Project Planning and Management from Leeds Metropolitan University and University of Bradford in UK respectively. He also obtained a BA in Economics and Social Policy from University of West of England, Bristol, UK and a National Certificate in Integrated Rural Development (RDI), The Gambia.
